Hint: As we know that in our physical universe, all physical phenomena can be understood with the available knowledge of physics. Here, we will discuss the physics of matter and bodies which are present outside our earth’s atmosphere and study the physics of these object’s physics as the basis of both astronomy and astrophysics.
Complete answer:
We all know that, universe is infinitely big and there is a lot of matter and especially different kinds of celestial bodies that are present outside of our earth’s atmosphere which is called space. For example The sun, all planets of our solar system and asteroid meteors stars and many other celestial bodies are in space. In order to study the properties of these kinds of objects such as their nature of composition, their motion, their properties of absorbing and releasing of light, we named such a type of study of physics as astronomy.
So, Astronomy is a branch of physics which deals with the study of everything present outside our earth’s atmosphere in space.Whereas, Astrophysics came under astronomy or astrophysics is a branch of astronomy which deals with the study of physical processes of celestial bodies in space. Under astrophysics, we study about the actual formation of stars, black holes, planets and their evolution and their expected future. whereas astronomy deals with the study of every object in the universe.Meanwhile, some other branches which came under astronomy are astrometry and celestial mechanics.
Hence, we learnt that astronomy is a branch of physics which deals with the study of every object in the universe whereas astrophysics is a branch of astronomy which only deals with the study of formation, evolution and future expectancy of celestial bodies.
Note: It should be remembered that our stellar system has very intense energy interaction so astrophysics is more primarily concerned over others in astronomy and you can understand its concern by realizing the fact that almost every country has a dedicated space center to study beyond earth. It is necessary to study because everything has a lifetime and so does earth.
