i)Astrophysics is the branch of astronomy that deals with the study of the physics and chemistry of celestial bodies, such as planets, stars, galaxies and other phenomena like black holes and supernovae.i) Cosmology, on the other hand, is a branch of astronomy that deals with the study of the large scale properties of the universe in its entirety.
ii)Astrophysicists examine the electromagnetic spectrum to determine the luminosity, density, temperature and chemical compositions of various celestial bodies.ii) It looks billions of years in the past to find out the origins of the universe.
iii) Astrophysics includes the application of concepts and methods like classical mechanics, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, electromagnetism etc.iii) It also uses modern theories and methods to understand how the universe might end in the future.
iv) Cosmology is studied by physicists, metaphysicians, philosophers of physics, philosophers of space and time, etc.


Note: Astrophysics came into emergence when scientists William Hyde and Joseph von Fraunhofer discovered a multitude of dark lines after decomposing the light from the sun. Later Gustav Kirchhoff and Robert Bunsen demonstrated that the dark lines corresponded with the light lines and each specific line further corresponded to unique chemical elements. The term ‘cosmology’ was used for the first time in 1656 by Thomas Blount.
