Hint: DNA substitution mutation can occur in two ways that are Transition and Transversion. In case of transition, interchange of two-ring of purines or pyrimidine are take place whereas in transversion interchange are between the purines and pyrimidine bases that involves an exchange of two-ring or one-ring structures
Complete answer:
Note: By comparing the two genomes, we can use the ratio of transition to transversion for the presence of coding regions. Point mutation occurs because of two types of base substitution known as transition and transversion. Nucleic acid chains nitrogenous base levels can be altered with the help of these two base substitutions. Their reaction or occurrence can happen either spontaneously or in response to mutagens.
Complete answer:
Transition | Transversion |
A point mutation occurs where the interchange of one base is replaced by another of the same class that is purine or pyrimidine. | A point mutation occurs where the interchange of one or two rings takes places between the pyrimidine and purines and vice versa. |
It can be seen that interchange of bases within single-ring or double-ring structures. | Interchange of bases can occur in a double-ring structure with a single-ring structure or single-ring structure with a double-ring structure. |
Ring structure does not change. | All over ring structure changed when mutation happened. |
Eight possible types can be formed. | Four possible types can be formed. |
A single type of transition can take place in particular bases. | In the case of a transversion, bases can exchange by two types. |
The genome is more common. | As compared to transition, it has a less common genome. |
It is a kind of silent mutation and less likely to result in amino acid substitution. | The degeneracy of the codon to a large extent results from the third nucleotide of the codon. |
It takes place due to oxidative, tautomerization and delamination. | It can take place due to ionizing radiation, alkylating agents and sometimes spontaneously. |
