Amoeba reproduces asexually through binary fission. In this process of reproduction, a single amoeba is divided into two similar daughter cells. They are genetically identical to each other. Amoeba is a unicellular organism. Amoeba replicates its genetic material through the mitotic division. The full cell is divided into two equal sized daughter cells. In this split two similar cells are produced. When an amoeba is ready to be divided into two similar cells. It grows larger and one nucleus in the amoeba splits and forms two nucleus. The amoeba is produced by the single parent. And the parent of the amoeba is technically lost.
Steps involved in the process of binary fission:
Replication of DNA: The bacterium uncoils and replicates its chromosome, that is doubling its content.
Growth of DNA: The bacteria start to grow after copying the chromosomes. By growing larger it increases the cytoplasm content.
Segregation of DNA: The cell elongates and it forms a septum in the middle. And the two chromosomes are formed in this phase.
Splitting of DNA: A new cell is formed in this phase. Two daughter cells got divided from the parent cell.
