Hint: Double fertilization is a complex process that occurs in the flowering plants. During this process embryo formation takes place simultaneously with endosperm formation in the same plant.

Complete answer:
In double fertilization two male gametes (sperm) fuses with the female gametophyte. The unfertilized ovule has 8 cells: 3 antipodal, 2 polar central, 2 synergids and one egg cell. One of the sperm fertilizes with an egg cell to form diploid zygote through a process called syngamy. The other sperm fuses with the two polar nuclei of large central cells to form triploid nucleus or the endosperm by the process of triple fusion. This is called double fertilization. Let us analyze the options to find out who discovered double fertilization in angiosperms.
Option A: Eduard Strasburger discovered the process of double fertilization in angiosperms. Therefore, this is the correct option.

Option B: Robert Brown was responsible for the discovery of nucleus of cell and Brownian motion. Therefore, this is the incorrect option.

Option C: Lamarck is known for his theory of evolution and inheritance of acquired characteristics. Therefore, this is the incorrect option.

Option D: Charles Darwin is known for his contribution in the theory of evolution. Therefore, this is the incorrect option.

Hence, the correct answer is option (A)

Note: The pollen grain involved in double fertilization adheres to the stigma of the carpel and germinates forming a pollen tube which extends down the ovary and penetrates the ovary through the micropyle end.
