Hint- An electric motor is an electrical machine which converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. They produce magnetic fields with the help of the current flowing through the coil. Then the magnetic field produces torque which causes the motor to run.
The principle of motor is that the current carrying conductor produces a magnetic field when placed perpendicular to the field produces torque.
Complete answer:
Before drawing and labeling the motor, we should know the parts of the motor that are:
a. DC power supply to run the current in the motor.
b. Commutator, which helps in the direction of the current source, it helps in reversing the c. c. current of the electrical source producing a steady flow of electrical movement.
d. Rotor Armature, which helps in the supply of electrical power to other parts of the motor.
e. Axle, which contains the part of the main power source.
f. Field magnet, which provides a magnetic field and enables the coil to rotate.
g. Brushes, which conduct current between wires and other parts like rotating shafts.
Construction-
1. Rectangular coil ABCD rotating between two horse show magnets.
2. Two magnets such that the arms AB and CD are perpendicular to them.
3. Two commutators to change the direction of the current.
4. A battery to supply the current to the coil.
Note- the direction of the magnetic field is from north pole to the south pole, in this case, rightwards. The direction of the current is from the positive terminal of the battery to the negative terminal. The torque will be applied in accordance to Fleming's left hand rule.
