Hint:
Formula used:
Complete step-by-step solution:
We have to draw a pentagon. A pentagon has 5 sides and 5 vertices.
We can find the diagonal by formula: $\dfrac{{n(n - 3)}}{2}$,n is the number of sides.
Put \[n = 5\]into the formula,
$ \Rightarrow \dfrac{{5(5 - 3)}}{2} = 5$
The number of diagonal = 5
Suppose A, B, C, D, E are the 5 points(vertex) of the pentagon. Sides are AB,BC,CD,DE and EA .
Join the line from one vertex to its opposite vertex but not the edges.
Diagonals are AD,AC,EB,EC,BD
Here is the sketch of a pentagon with its diagonal.

Note: Each vertex has two diagonals, so if you counted each diagonal from every vertex twice, you might think there were 10 diagonals. This is incorrect because you would have counted each diagonal twice!
