In the above figure, two arrow signs of the same size are shown and when we place one after another, then each one overlaps another one and when we see it from the top then it seems to be like that only one single arrow is there. But actually, there are two.
We can understand the reason behind this easily by understanding the meaning of congruency. In geometry, we define two objects or figures that are congruent. Then the following two criteria are to be satisfied:
1. Same shape
2. Same size
To visualize this just take any object in your hand and stand in front of the plane mirror, then the image of the object will be congruent to the primary object as both the criteria are satisfied.
For better understanding, just take two bricks that are used for construction, all the bricks are identical in shape and the angles subtended by them are equal for every edge.
Now, if someone wants to draw the congruent shape of any object. Then one can just take a butter paper and place it over any shape and trace the outer trajectory of the shape. Then the sketch developed on the butter paper will be congruent to the shape of the object over which we placed the butter paper.
