Biosphere reserves consist of 3 zones they are:
1. Core zone: core area is the most protected area of the biosphere reserve. It contains endemic species and endangered species. Human interference is strictly prohibited, that is tourist people cannot explore the core area.
2. Buffer zone: The area next to the core area is the buffer zone. The buffer zone surrounds the core zone. Here human activities are only allowed for research and educational purposes.
3. Transition zone: This zone has human settlements where humans do agriculture, forestry, etc. The local communities, scientists, cultural groups work in this zone to use the area in a sustainable way for the welfare of human beings.

Kanha biosphere reserve is the reserve established in Madhya Pradesh.

Note: Kanha biosphere reserve is also known as the Kanha tiger reserve. It has the largest national park in Madhya Pradesh.
