Hint:Our population which was approximately 350 million at the time of our independence reached closed to billion marks by 2000 and crossed 1.2 billion in May 2011.

Complete answer:
In India Rapid population growth has been observed after independence. Following are some of the possible reasons behind the rapid rise in the population.
High Birth rate/Natality:- It is the number of birth occurrences per 1000 individual in a year. Birth rate depends on the fertility rate (Number of children per couple) for keeping the population constant. The ideal birth rate should be 2. But In India Birth rate is always higher than 2. ( It is also called replacement value)
Low Death rate/ Mortality:- It is the number of deaths occurring per 1000 individuals in a year. In the past few years death rate has significantly decreased due to medical advancement. Infant mortality rate is significantly decreased.
Lack of Education:- Lack of education creates less awareness about the ill effect of population explosion and also about the use of contraceptive measures. Lack of awareness and use of contraceptive measures has contributed to significant increase in population in India. In India there is a need for promotion of contraceptive measures in order to control the birth rate.

Additional information:In India as per 2011 census the population was 121 Cr. 2020 Birth rate is expected to be 18.2 Birth/1000 individual and Death rate would be 7.3 death/1000 individual. At this rate the 2020 population is expected to be around 140 cr.

Thus the correct answer is Option ‘D’ All of these.

Note: It’s not about just the rise in birth rate but the decline in birth rate compared to birth rate is more important. When death rate is significantly low that birth rate then population increases rapidly.
