Hint It is a mountain range in Asia and has Earth’s many highest peaks, one being Mount Everest. It separates the plains of Indian subcontinents from the Tibetan Plateau. It is a place of religious significance to Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains. The Himalayas greatly impact the climatic conditions of India and the Tibetan Plateau.

Complete step by step Answer
The Himalayas are of utmost importance because:
i) It is the origin of many rivers that serve as a great source of water in the Indian subcontinent.
ii) They prevent dry winds south, which keeps South Asia much warmer than corresponding temperate regions in the other continents. It also forms a barrier for the monsoon winds of the Indian Ocean from crossing over to Northern countries and causes heavy rainfall in Northern India.
iii) It is home to many medicinal sources and plants from the forests have been used to treat health problems ranging from a simple cough to snake bite.

Additional Information
The survival of the flora and fauna is greatly impacted by the climatic changes experienced in the regions of Himalayas. The distinct culturally isolated indigenous Himalayan population comprises Hindu (Indian), Buddhist (Tibetan), Islamic (Afghanistan–Iranian), and Animist (Burmese and Southeast Asian).

Note It is also called Land of Snow and is one of the youngest mountain ranges on the planet. The Himalayas are spread across five countries: Bhutan, China, India, Nepal, and Pakistan. The Himalayas include over fifty mountains exceeding 7,200 m (23,600 ft) in elevation.
