The main function of roughage is not to provide any form of nutrients to our body, rather it provides help in getting rid of the amount of undigested food. When roughage reaches the large intestine it is broken down by a gut bacterium or exits from the body in the stool.
There are two types of fibers as follows: -

2. Insoluble fibers
