Hint: India comprises a large variety of littoral forests. These forests are important for natural vegetation in India. Water as well as nutrient availability has to be provided for the tropical deciduous trees. It is because of the mutual symbiotic association between a fungus and plant.

Complete answer:
Teak wood is the tropical hardwood tree species. They grow in mixed hardwood forests and are deciduous trees. Deciduous plants are the trees, shrubs, and herbaceous perennials which shed off leaves once a year. They are small, scented white flowers at the end of the branches arranged in dense clusters. Teakwood is used in making furniture, boat building, veneer, carving, exterior construction, turnings, and small wood projects. Teak has some natural oils which make it useful in the exposition to various locations.
In West Bengal, littoral forests are called Sundarbans. Sundarbans is the world’s largest contiguous forest located in parts of West Bengal, India, and Bangladesh. These trees can grow up to a height of 60 feet and have a girth of six feet which keeps the stilt roots underwater even during the high tides. They are used to make bridges, boats, house construction, and other tools. They are also used for medicinal purposes.

Note: The Sundari tree is a significant factor in the timber industry because of the yield of timber and firewood. Teak has oil content which is highly present and provides the highest decay resistance among the natural wood products. The characteristics of teakwood are leather-like smell, its highly valued, renowned for its durability, and water-resistant.
