Diamagnetic substances are materials which get hardly magnetised when placed in an external magnetic field, instead they try to oppose or resist the magnetic field. These include water and gold to name a few.
Paramagnetic substances are which have zero magnetic moment due to the opposite direction of electrons which are present in them, which cancel each other. However, when an external magnetic field is applied, they tend to align along the external magnetic field and the magnetic field of these substances exists only as long as the external field is present. These include metals like aluminium, tungsten and platinum to name a few.
 Ferromagnetic substances, these are materials which have strong magnetic fields which can be used to magnetise paramagnetic substances. Examples include nickel, iron and cobalt and their alloys majorly.
