The Non-alignment movement was founded on the Brijuni islands and was formally signed by Yugoslavia’s president- Joseph Broz Tito, Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India and Gamal Abdel Nasser, Egypt’s second president; who was a great supporter of anti-colonialism and pan Arabism at the Belgrade Conference. The movement emerged in the context of decolonization followed by World War 2.
