Hint: The objects which are existing in nature can be divided into three types based on their nature to allow the light to pass through them. If they allow the light to pass through them completely, then they are called transparent objects. If they hinder the passage of light through them completely then they are called opaque objects and if they allow the passage of light partially then they are called translucent objects.
Complete answer:
Transparent objects allow the passage of light while opaque objects don’t allow the light passage.
let us assume there is a transparent object, let it be a completely transparent glass. Let us take a light source which emits the light or we can make use of sun rays if possible. Place the object in the middle of the light source and wall or a cardboard. We must make sure that the light rays fall on the object. We can clearly see that the total amount of rays passed through the glass will fall on the wall and if we only see the wall, we will never know that there is an object in the way between the wall and the light source.
Now let us repeat the same experiment with any translucent object like thin paper. Then we can see a partial shadow on the wall as they block the light partially.
Now if we repeat the experiment with an opaque object like a piece of wood or a brick, then we can see a clear shadow on the wall as they completely block the light.
Hence the property of opaque objects is to form the shadows.
If we observe the scrambled sentences given below, it tells us the property of the opaque objects.
If we place the boxes in order of 3,4,5,6,2,7,1 then we will get
OPAQUE OBJECTS MAKE SHADOWS
Note:
So, from the properties of objects we can tell that, one can clearly see through the transparent objects while one can partially see through translucent objects. One cannot see through the opaque objects. The main reason for these differences is their property of blocking the light. Transparent objects don’t block light while translucent and opaque objects block the light partially and completely.
