Hint: This character includes morphology, physical character, behavior, physiology, and biochemical properties.
Complete answer:
1. The genotype of an organism is the complete set of heritable genes that pass from one generation to another and have coding of the characters which are physically expressed by that organism.
2. Phenotype is just opposite to the genotype. It is a set of visual characters that are seen in an individual by interaction with the coding present in the genes. In other words, we can also say that phenotype is just the physical expression of our genetic material. Example of the phenotype is hair color, wings appearance, marks on animals body like white and black stripes in zebra, etc.
3. Recessive: There are two types of genes one is dominant and one is recessive. Dominant genes express themselves in both homologous and Heterologous conditions, whereas recessive genes express themselves only in homozygous condition when recessive genes are present on both strands of DNA.
4. Phenocopy: Phenocopy is just a variation in the phenotype of an individual. When there are some changes occurring in physical appearance due to environmental factors is known as phenocopy. It is not permanent neither counted under mutation nor inherited.
Hence from the above, the external appearance of any contrasting character is known as the phenotype.
Note: In genetic capital letters such as ‘R' is used for dominant traits and ‘r' for recessive.
