Nawab Sadat Khan made the first settlement along the bank of Ghaghra. It was a place near Ayodhya and found the city Faizabad and hence it became the first capital of the new government.
 Nawab asaf ud daula was the one who transferred the capital from Faizabad to Lucknow. He was the son of Nawab shuja Ud daulah and forth Nawab of Awadh. Shifting of capital from Faizabad to Lucknow led to the decline of Faizabad but Lucknow glorified. Asaf ud daula was the Nawab Wazir of oudh ratified by Shah Alam II.
