Hint: The treaty of versailles was the most important peace treaty that brought World war 1 to the end. The treaty ended the state of war between Germany and Allied Powers. It was signed on 28 June 1919 in Versailles.

At the end of war The Paris Peace Conference was held in January 1919. However only the representatives of the victorious states attended the peace conference.The defeated states were not represented.Conference signed Treaty Versailles with Germany. As a result of this treaty-
1.Germany lost its overseas colonies, a tenth of its population, 13 percent of its territories, 75 per cent of its iron and 26 per cent of its coal to France, Poland, Denmark and Lithuania.

2. The Allied Powers demilitarised Germany to weaken its power.

3.The War Guilt Clause held Germany responsible for the war and damages the allied countries suffered. Germany was forced to pay the compensation amounting to 6 billion.

4.All kinds of tanks, armored cars, military airplanes, submarines and airforce , were forbidden in germany.The manufacture of arms and ammunition was heavily restricted.

5. The Allied armies also occupied the resource-rich Rhineland for much of the 1920s.
Many Germans held the new Weimar republic responsible for not only the defeat but the disgrace at Versailles.
