Let us understand all the four Religion one by one:
I.Buddhism: Around 200 B.C Buddhism became the official religion of Sri Lanka. Buddha lived a life which was filled with compassion, love, and charity and he formed five maxims to guide the people they are:
   (i) I shall not kill any of the living beings.
   (ii) I shall not abuse sexually
   (iii) I shall not steal.
   (iv) I shall not speak false.
   (v) I shall not use drugs.

II. Hinduism: Hindus make up 16% of the total Sri Lankan population. At home Hindus often create a shrine with icons dedicated to their chosen form of God.

III. Islam: Many of the Arab traders settled in Sri Lanka, encouraging the spread of Islam. Today about 8% of the total population of Sri Lanka is Islam.

IV. Christianity: Christianity makes up 7%of the total Sri Lankan population, most are Catholics. Christianity first came to Sri Lanka on the arrival of the Portuguese in the sixteenth century.

Note:Buddhism was the first religion brought to Sri Lanka by a mission sent out from eastern India during the time period of the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka, and also Buddhism is considered as the state religion and has been given some special privileges in the Constitution of Sri Lanka and such as government protection and promotion of Buddhist Dharma.
