Hint: Binomial Nomenclature is a commonly used, systematic method for naming a species. The nomenclature consists of two names, generic name and specific name. This name is also known as a scientific name.

Complete Answer:

The scientific naming method was proposed by Carl von Linne or Carl Linnaeus in an effort to describe the natural environment by offering a binomial nomenclature or a scientific name. The scientific name for the lions is Panther Leo. The Panthera genus is of Greek descent and consists of large cat animals such as tigers, lions, jaguars and leopards that are capable of roaring. Leo is the lion's Latin term. The Panthera leo is indeed a mammal and the 2nd biggest of the Felidae family, significantly smaller than the tiger (Panthera tigris). There are two kinds of subspecies of lions, the African lion and the Asian lion. The scientific name of the African lion is Panther Leo melanochaita, whereas the scientific name of the Asian lion is Panther Leo Leo. The African lion and the Asian lion are thought to have broken up around 100,000 years ago. The main distinctions between the two subspecies are Asiatic lions, which are smaller on average, males usually do not live in pride with females, and males have a darker mane.

Note: The lion had first been classified by Linnaeus as Felis Leo in 1758 from a specimen identified in Constantine, Algeria. Lion roars can be incredibly noisy, achieving a peak of around 114 decibels. Their roar is loud enough to cross the barrier of human hearing discomfort.
