Population explosion is referred to as an increase in the number of individuals of the same species in a particular area. There are many reasons which are responsible for an increase in population growth rates such as an increase in food production-distribution which led to an increase in food rate and a decrease in starvation and malnutrition. Improvement in public health led to a decrease in mortality rate by proper vaccination and also it decreases the spread of infectious diseases. A decrease in literacy rate also increases the population rate by an increase in the infant birth rate.

Development in a particular area is responsible for population explosion and this explosion affects the development. Population explosion led to overpopulation which causes migration of people from rural to urban areas, deforestation for building houses, over-farming to fulfill the need for food, water pollution by misuse of water or by an increase in waste products, global warming due to decrease in the number of plants, etc. A decrease in the number of trees decreases the production of oxygen which is responsible for an increase in air pollution and this pollution causes various types of bad effects in living organisms.

Population growth rate can be explained based on pyramids and curves. In the case of the curves if the curve is exponential then the population does not reach an equilibrium state and in this case, the curve is logistic then after reaching the take-off stage the log phase starts which res further growth.
