Hint:In order to solve this question we need to understand the massiveness of space. So Space is defined as a massive place where several small big objects are floating and rotating around each other or to something other. Actually according to Einstein, planets in space rotate around the sun due to the space time curve on which the sun lies and the other planets are bound to rotate around it.

Complete answer:
Now the planet's composition is mainly of rocks and apart from these big size rocks (planets) there are some other rocks too that revolve around a massive object like the sun. Asteroids are defined as remnants of big and massive rocks that undergo dissipation under circumstances, so these big rocks break to form small and large formation of rocks known as asteroids.

Asteroids too revolve around a big and massive star like the sun due to the space time curve, they have their own belt like the planets and sometimes it revolves in the same orbit as the planet. In our solar system, asteroid belts are generally found between Mars and Jupiter, having their own belt, but these asteroids can be found in other places too.

Note:It should be remembered that after the big bang as suggested by Stephen Hawking, many combinations were made and in this order many dust particles, rocks collapse and form planets but some other particles like chunks of rocks form asteroids. If an asteroid hits the earth then there would be a massive hole at the earth crust due to immense pressure and large size of asteroids.
