Hint: We know that air is everywhere. It surrounds us on this planet. No life can ever exist without air. Did you ever think about what air comprises? Is it a pure substance or a mixture? Let us understand the composition of air below.

Complete answer:
In older times, the air was considered a pure substance but it was later when it was found out that air is not a pure substance but a mixture of many gases. Air’s composition is not constant, it changes accordingly from place to place like the areas which are polluted, where the composition of air will have more carbon dioxide compared to the other places.
Air has many components, that are:

Nitrogen: The burning candle extinguishes as soon as we blow it. It fairly means that the air consists of incombustible gases ( Gases that don’t support combustion) too. It happens because of nitrogen gas. It is present in abundance on the planet.
Oxygen: Try burning a candle in the absence of air, what will you observe? If we try this, we will notice that the candle doesn’t burn in the absence of air. Air comprises different gases that support combustion. The main substance is oxygen. It is one of the most important components of air surrounding us.
Water vapor: Due to summer, the water which is present in the ocean and rivers it evaporates and escapes in the surrounding. Water vapor is also one of the components air has but the percentage composition of it is very less.
Smoke and dust particles: The burning of fuel causes smoke in the atmosphere. Its composition also varies from place to place. It is also a mixture of gases and can cause harm to the environment.
Argon: It exists in the air only. It is a colorless gas and is very famous in industrial applications because of its chemical inertness.
Carbon dioxide: It occurs because of respiration by animals or the burning of fuel. Its composition also varies from place to place.

Note:
The percentage composition of air is-
Nitrogen- 78%
Oxygen- 20.9%
Other gases- >0.17%
Argon- >0.90%
Carbon dioxide- 0.03%
