Hint: Reproduction by using gametes is only practiced by organisms which perform sexual reproduction. Gamete formation and their involvement during the reproductive cycle is common. Cell cycle was introduced by Walther flaming. Which separates the replicated chromosome equally into two daughter cells.
Complete answer:
Isogamy is termed as the process where gametes are fused together to develop into an offspring. Other words it is known as sexual reproduction. As we know that, gamete is nothing but sex cells which are ova and sperms are haploid so that during fertilization they fuse into each other and develop into an offspring which is diploid in nature. This phenomenon occurs mostly in mammals and organisms which are involved in sexual reproduction.
The fact that a female child is born with eggs from birth and male starts attaining sperm at the time of puberty. This is the most distinctive character in both sexes. Hence, eggs in female are haploid reason behind it is eggs are termed as sex cells along with sperms. Being called as sex cells they are haploid in nature as in sexual organisms all other cells except sex cells count for diploid.
Inside the sex cells unlike the normal cell, they have only one distinctive feature which is haploid or diploid. Otherwise, it behaves like a normal cell. The proteins and DNA which are present also in haploid cells. They also perform recombination, transcription, repair etc.
Note:
Isogamy is similar to syngamy where both the male and female gamete are equal in size and fertility. Unlike in anisogamy where male gamete is small and infertile and the female gamete is fertile and big in size. Such gamete involving unequal sizes of gametes usually undergo asexual reproduction. Example- bacteria, Protista, euglena and lower eukaryotic organisms.
