Complete answer:
The study of fruits is known as pomology. It involves the research mainly in the development and enhancement of the fruit with various factors of study in cultivation and physiological studies of fruits. The quality of fruit and the regulation of the production of the fruit depends upon pomology and helps with the reduction of the production cost of the fruits. The exact depiction of the root is required by the new varieties to disseminate and research about them accurately. Watercolour illustrations were used earlier when there was no scientific photography and the collections were preserved in the national agricultural library which is a resource for many researchers that includes publishers, artists and horticulturists etc.
Fruits are formed from the ovary and constitute seed in it and get developed after the process of fertilization whereas some fruits develop without the process of fertilization through the process known as parthenocarpy. Fruits play a vital role in the dissemination of the seed and the protection of the seed. They provide vital nutrients such as dietary fibre, vitamins and antioxidants which are needed by humans. Fleshy fruits are more prone to spoilage and this can be extended by refrigeration or by removing oxygen from their storage or their containers. Fruits can be processed into several items such as jellies, jams and juices which are further preserved by fermentation, dehydration, pickling and canning. Some fruits provide drugs such as morphine derived from the fruit opium poppy.

Note:
Banana is a fruit which is developed by the process of parthenocarpy and our most popular fruit of the American diet. A person eating a fruit diet will have lesser chances of developing a heart attack, cancer and other diseases.
