Hint: The Bengal Legislative Assembly met to decide the future of the Bengal Presidency on 20th June 1947, regarding whether it would be a United Bengal within Pakistan or India; or be divided into East and West Bengal

Complete answer:
The Segment of Bengal was the choice of isolating eastern parts of Bengal from the rest of Bengal. The arrangement of Bengal was divided into two territories which was decided by Viceroy of India, Lord Curzon who declared and administered on 20th july 1905. Bengal which included the western locale of Bengal appropriate, Bihar and Orissa was isolated from eastern Bengal which included Assam on seeing this policy of divide and rule the Hindus of west Bengal were upset they had a monopoly on Bengal's business & rural life, therefore they complained the division would make them a minority in a province that would include the Bihar and Orissa Provinces. Whereas the Eastern portion was ruled by Bengali Muslims and the territory of West Bengal was overwhelmed by non-Bengali populace.
Before the partition there was a period of six months in which the Congress party arranged meetings where petitions against the partition were collected and were represented to authorities with an expectation to bring about the change in policy of Partition However everything went in vain.

Note: Lord Curzon insisted on the fact that this Partition of Bengal will bring about more efficiency in the administration but till date the Historians are not able to draw the relevance of this incident . Then again 1947, The Sylhet referendum held in district of Sylhet to decide the future of Assam to join India or leave Assam for East Bengal, on 6th July 1947 which chose to disjoin Sylhet from Assam and consolidate it into East Bengal
