Lothal was excavated from 13th February 1955-19th May 1960 by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which is the official Indian government agency for the preservation of ancient monuments. Lothal was a comparatively small town. Lothal is situated near the village called Saragwala in the Dholka Taluka of Ahmedabad district.
Present-day fact about Lothal:
Lothal site has been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its application is still pending on the tentative list of UNESCO.
II. Dholavira: Dholavira was a site that was excavated by RS Bisht of ASI and his team in the year 1990 which is located in the Kutch district in the state of Gujarat. It is the most prominent archeological site In India belonging to the Indus valley civilization.
