Hint: Before the coming of British, people in India were living peacefully at their own sphere, caste or religion but after their arrival, people started coming out into one regardless of caste, class, creed, gender to unite against their common enemy because the motive of British were clearly indicating that they want to divide the Indians on the basis of religion and caste.

Complete answer: India is a country of diversity in caste, class, creed, language, customs and religion but we, the people of India have always united despite these diversities. British tried to divide India based on communal lines so that they could control it easily but with the help of National integration, we were successfully able to get Independence.
National integration is a bond or ties between people regardless of caste, class, gender, creed and religion. The national movement of India is the biggest example of National integration when we united against the common enemy called British.
National integration plays an important role in the political, social, economic and cultural sphere of the country. It promotes social harmony, increases economic growth and unites the Nation.
The feeling of nationalism or national integration first emerged in the Swadeshi movement of Bengal when Hindu and Muslims came together to fight against the British. They used attractive symbols, signs and allegories like Bharat Mata, Vande Mataram song, paintings, Rakhi tying and many more which encouraged people to join the movement for the common cause. From then, the spark of the National Movement increased and finally in 1947 we got independence.

Note: National integration in this modern time has become crucial because of the daily ongoing movements in which sometimes foreign powers try to invade like in the recent case of Indo-China border dispute.
