Hint: Use the Indian place value chart. Find the largest number by placing the smallest is ones, tens, hundreds place etc and vice versa to get the smallest number from the digits given.

The position of the digit at the extreme left of a number increases its place value in the Indian place value chart. The greatest digit out of 4, 3, 7, 0, 9 should be placed at the extreme left side of the number.
Now out of 4, 3, 7, 0, 9 let us arrange it in the order we have mentioned above using Indian place value chart.
We can find the number with the help of Indian Place Value chart. In this each place value represents 10 times the place value to its immediate right. The chart has 9 places that are grouped into 4 periods namely ones, thousands, lakhs and crores. So, we can draw the place value chart as,

From the Indian place value chart, we can say,

To find the largest number, place the smallest digit in one’s place, the next greater digit in Tens place and the next greater digit in Hundred's place and go on like that.
To find the smallest number, find the greatest number is the one’s place, next smaller digit at ten’s place etc and go on.

Thus, the largest possible number = 97430.
Smallest possible number = 3479.


Note: You can find the same without making on the Indian place value chart. Just arrange the number in descending order to get the largest number and arrange in ascending order to get the smallest number.
