RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 10 Chapter 16 Coordinate Geometry Free PDF Download

RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 10 Coordinate Geometry PDF is prepared by our subject experts at Vedantu to impart quality study material and promote concept-based understanding in the students. Two axes, X-axis and Y-axis which are perpendicular to each other divide the Cartesian plane into four quadrants. The location of any point is expressed in the form of (x,y) and the intersection of both the axes is called the origin. The coordinate points of the origin are (0,0). The values on the X-axis are called abscissa, whereas the values on the Y-axis are called ordinates.

Students can download RS Aggarwal solutions Class 10 Coordinate Geometry PDF free of cost and start their preparations for their upcoming exams. The concepts of distance formula, section formula, angle formula, mid-point theorem and area of a triangle in a cartesian plane is discussed in detail in the PDF RS Aggarwal Class 10 Chapter 16 Coordinate Geometry.

Distance Formula = (x₁-x₂)²+(y₁-y₂)²

Midpoint Theorem = x₁+x₂2,y₁+y₂2

FAQs on RS Aggarwal Class 10 Solutions - Coordinate Geometry

1. Find if the points (5,-2),(6,4) and (7,-2) are the sides of an isosceles triangle.

Ans: To find if the three points are the endpoints of an isosceles triangle. Let us find the length of each side of the triangle.

Let the points (5,-2),(6,4) and (7,-2) be the vertices of a triangle PQR.We will use the distance formula to determine the distance between the respective points

Length of PQ= Distance between the points (5,-2) and(6,4).

PQ = √((5-6)2+(-2-4)2 )= √((-1)2+(-6)2)

PQ = √(1+36) =√37

Length of QR= Distance between the points (6,4) and (7,-2).

QR = √((6-7)2+(4-(-2)2 )= √((-1)2+(-6)2)

QR = √(1+36) =√37

Length of PR = distance between the points (5,-2) and (7,-2).

PR = √((5-7)2+(-2-2)2 )= √((-2)2+(0)2)

PR = √4 = 2

The sides PQ and QR are of the same length. Therefore, the triangle PQR is an isosceles triangle.

2. Find the equation of the line parallel 2x-y=4 and passing through the points(2,-1).

The slope of a line parallel to another line is equal to its slope. So the slope of the line parallel to the line 2x-y=4 will be equal to its slope.

Converting into slope-intercept, y=mx+c form.

y = 2x-4

The slope of the line is 2.

m=2.

It passes through the points, (2,-1)

x1=2

y2=-1

To find the equation of the line, Put the values into the equation-

(y-y1)=m(x-x1)

( y - (-1)) = m(x-2)

y+1=2(x-2)

y+1 =2x -4

y - 2x=5, is the equation of the line passing  through the points(2,-1) and parallel to the line 2x-y=4
