The Proud Bad Elephant

There was a jungle where all animals lived in peace. There was a huge elephant who boasted of his size and power. He trampled small animals and showed his pride. He broke the branches of trees and destroyed birds’ nests and eggs. He also destroyed the burrows and dens of other animals.

No animal had the strength to confront him. His tyranny increased day by day. Even the lions and tigers were afraid of him. All the animals, especially the foxes, were very worried and annoyed by the bad elephant’s behaviour.

The Wise Fox’s Statement

One day, the foxes called a meeting. The chief of foxes said, “This is not fair. The elephant is evilly using his power. We must do something or we will become extinct.” The foxes started to talk to each other. Suddenly, a young fox, the wisest of them all, said, “I have a plan. Don’t worry. I will take care of the problem alone!”

Everyone was surprised by his statement. Despite their doubts, they strongly wanted to believe what the fox said and waited with patience. The wise fox spent a few days watching the elephant closely. It was a part of his plan to check the power and weaknesses of his enemy.

The Wise Fox’s Plan

The fox was ready with his plan. One day, he approached the elephant and said, “Oh the strongest of all, I came here to invite you to the ceremony of your kinghood.” The elephant trumpeted with pride and said, “What do you want to say?”

The fox said, “All the animals have decided to make you the king of the jungle. With your power, you can rule here. Even the lions and tigers think you should be the king.”

The elephant was elated and said, “Take me to the ceremonial venue.”

The fox said, “Follow me, my lord!”

He took a different route that the elephant was unaware of. There was a swamp. He simply walked over the muddy surface due to his lightweight. The moment the elephant stepped into that swamp, his feet got stuck. The more he struggled, the more he got stuck. He could not come out.

He said to the fox, “Bring all the animals here and help me to get out.” The fox, confirming that the elephant was stuck, said, “You are the evilest animal I have seen. Today, I am taking revenge on behalf of all the innocent lives you have destroyed.”

The elephant requested but the fox did not listen. He drowned in the muddy swamp and died. This is the end of The Elephant Story.
