The Starving Little Kid

A little boy was sitting beside the gutter. His clothes are torn and tattered. He did not eat food for days and was weeping profusely.

He was seldom beaten by the local goons. He was unable to find work as he was weak. Nobody would give him money or food even if he asks repeatedly.

The townspeople ignored him all the time. The kid was honest and good at heart but the days were cruel.

His Lucky Day

His tears rolled from his eyes and dropped in the gutter. His vision was blurry. His parents told him that we all have to face our deeds and get what we deserve. He thought about what wrong he had done that made him poor, homeless and starving.

He was in utter despair. Suddenly, a hundred-rupee note was waving in front of him. He saw a wealthy tourist couple giving him money. He was amazed and thought, “How did they notice me? I am no one.”

The couple said in an excellent accent, “Take it and have something.” He was in shock and could not even answer. His arms were still. The couple said, “Do you need more?”

He mustered courage and said, “No, this is enough! Thank you. I can eat now.” The couple left.

The moment he wanted to go to a nearby shop to eat, a thought appeared in his mind. The shopkeeper will think he has stolen the money and will beat him. What can he do?

He then tracked down the couple. They were standing under a posh store to buy some souvenirs. He was about to hand over the money when he spotted a huge couch falling from the 4th level of the building after shattering a window.

He was frozen and could not think of anything. The couple looked up and was shrieking in fear. Suddenly, he felt the urge to do something and pushed the couple. The couch fell right at the spot where they were standing.

The couple gathered themselves and thanked him. He saved their lives. The husband stopped for a few seconds and asked, “Why did you return?”

The boy said, “No one will give a boy like me food who has a hundred-rupee note. I came back to return it.”

The wife asked, “Do you have a family?” He said, “No!”

She said, “We don’t have a child. Will you go with us?”

This was the happiest day of his life. He could not believe that they saw what he had inside through his tattered appearance.
