The Crow and the Fox: A Moral Short Story

This is an interesting story about a fox and a crow. The fox falsely praised a crow, and the crow slipped. The fox had something in mind, and he succeeded. What was his aim? What did he want to do? Why did the crow fall into the trap of the fox? Find out the answers by reading this interesting moral story.

The Crow Stole a Piece of Meat

Once upon a time, there was a crow. He was very sly. One day, he was flying over a meat shop. He found that the meat seller was sharpening his knives. He sat on a branch of a tree near the shop and waited for the right moment.

The moment the meat seller went inside the infirmary, it swooped from the branch and took a heavy chunk of meat. The crow flew away to a distant tree near a jungle.

The crow was now looking for a peaceful place where he could keep the meat and eat it slowly. He did not notice that a fox was watching him from the bottom of the tree.

The fox was planning to get his hands on the meat the crow was holding. He could not climb up the tree; all he could do was to make the crow throw the meat down.

The Cunning Fox and his Plan

The crow noticed the fox. He did not say a word and kept looking for the right place to hide the meat.

The fox said, “What a magnificent bird? Look at his feathers. The crow looked here and there. “Is the fox talking about me?” he thought.

Again the fox said, “I have never seen a bird with so beautiful black feathers before! I wish it could sing.”

The crow was stunned. Nobody has ever said something good about his appearance. He was not praised by anyone for his beauty. He felt an urge to impress the fox but waited to see what the fox had to say more about him.

The fox added, “It can’t be. A bird this beautiful cannot sing? Pity! How can God be so cruel that he has not given this bird of paradise a sweet voice?”

The crow could not hold on anymore. He wanted to get more praise from the fox and opened his beak to sing. The moment he opened his wing, the meat fell to the ground.
