About Chapter 17 Worksheets for Class 3 EVS

‘Here Comes A Letter’ is a chapter that follows the story of a letter as it describes its journey from its writer's possession to that of the receiver. The moral behind this chapter is to teach students of class the functioning of a post office. This chapter is included in class 3 Environmental science syllabus to make them understand how the system of writing a letter and how it is taken from one place to another works in this modern-day world, where students of a young age are unaware of the traditional letter-writing way of communication.

The chapter begins with the letter describing that it was written by a girl named Reena for her friend, Ahmed and how it was put in a post box from where it came into the hands of a postman. The students are made to interact with this creative autobiographical storytelling chapter through a pictorial where they are asked to number the journey of the letter.

The activities in this chapter include making a letterbox for the class by the students so that it can act as a post box. The students are then asked to write letters to their friends and drop them in this box while they are also asked to collect letter stamps and paste them into the book.

In the end, the chapter throws light on a different mode of communication, through the telephone! And students are asked to think about and choose which mode they prefer out of the two modes of communication that they were taught: a telephone or a letter.
