Overview of Chapter 4 - Reproductive Health

In Chapter 3, students learnt everything about human reproduction. Chapter 4 is closely related to Chapter 4 as students learn about reproductive health. MTP stands for Medical Termination of Pregnancy. It is the voluntary or intentional termination of pregnancy before its full term is completed. It is also known as induced abortion. The government of India authorized MTP in 1971 with some strict guidelines to prevent its misuse. MTPs usually take place to get rid of unwanted pregnancies. It is useful in situations when the continuation of the pregnancy could be risky for either the mother or the fetus. MTPs during the first trimester are relatively much safer as compared to second-trimester abortions.
