1. Are appearing for Mock tests important for NTSE?
All candidates appearing for NTSE Stage 1 and Stage 2 examinations are advised to take mock tests. 2. What is the selection process for NTSE?
The National Talent Search Examination is conducted in two stages- Stage 1 and Stage 2. Stage 1 is a state level examination that comprises two parts- Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Stage 2 is a national level exam for which only candidates who have cleared Stage 1 examination are eligible to write. It is usually conducted by The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) on the second Sunday of May every year.
3. Is there a negative marking in NTSE?
Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the NTSE exam will comprise about 200 questions which carry 1 mark for every question. All candidates will be given 120 minutes for each part of both the levels of examination except the visually challenged candidates who will be given 150 minutes for the sections. The total duration of each level is about 240 minutes. However, there is no negative marking for NTSE and 1 mark will be added for every answer which is correct.
4. Are questions repeated in NTSE?
For the stage 1 level of NTSE, there are no chances of repetition of questions from the previous year. However, the difficulty level and the type of questions remains the same each year. Candidates are advised to solve sample papers and previous years questions.
