The IPS officers and also the DSP can be promoted to the post of ACP rank. Even the state police officers can also become ACP after completion of a successful career of 10 to 15 years. 

When you appear in this exam, you should primarily have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university or from a popular education board. Apart from this, the candidate should also be a citizen of India and should be 21 years of age. While, the maximum age limit is different for different categories like the General, SC, OBC, ST, etc.
