BSF, this acronym stands for Border Security Force. This is a paramilitary force of our country, India. The main duty of this force is to safeguard India’s land border during peace as well as during wartime.
Presently, BSF is the world’s largest border guarding force. We are proud of this fact. BSF is also one of the five Central Armed Police Forces of India that functions under the administrative control of the Home Ministry, presided by Shri Amit Shah. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is headquartered in New Delhi. At the current juncture, Rakesh Asthana is the chief of BSF.
The Border Security Force (abbreviated as BSF) is India's Primary border guarding organization that was organized to secure the border with Pakistan and Bangladesh. BSF was raised in the wake of the 1965 War on 1 December in the year 1965, they were formed - "for ensuring the security of the borders of India and for matters connected therewith".

Tasks Performed in the Borders

Our armed forces, the BSF performs different tasks in peacetime and wartime.
During Peacetime, the Tasks of the Forces Are as Follows:
They provide protection and also promote a sense of secure feeling among the people near the border areas.
To prevent any unauthorized entry or exit from the border areas.
To prevent and take action against trans-border crimes and other illegal activities like smuggling.
During the Wartime, the BSF Some Other Sand Major Tasks, Are as Follows:
To protect the vital and sensitive installations like airfields from enemy commandos, paratroopers, and others.
To supply with extension to the flanks of the main defence line.
To perform any special tasks which are entrusted to the BSF by the army.
To guide their own armies in the areas where the routes are known.
To guard the prisoners of the war cages.
To perform any anti-infiltration activities in those areas as specified by the army.
Holding grounds that are assigned sector-wise.
BSF is also employed for the Internal Security Duties and other law and order duties, this can be done on the requisition of the State Government. BSF is a Central Armed Police Force that can be entrusted with policing duties at any place.
BSF Forming Their Troops
As already mentioned, BSF has its headquarters in New Delhi and this is known as the Force Headquarters (FHQ). The force is headed by a Director-General, Rakesh Asthana. Various other directorates like in Operations, Communications & IT, Engineering, Training, General, Law, Provisioning, Personnel, Armaments, Medical, Finance are also engaged, all these departments function under an appointed DG. While each directorate is headed by an IG. The Eastern Theatre of the country is looked after by Spl DG HQ (this is the Eastern Command) at Kolkata and the Western Theatre of the country is looked after by Spl DG HQ (which is the Western Command) at Chandigarh. BSF is the pride of India. This is said repeatedly for the following contribution they made:
Almost every year, BSF contributes a number of army personnel for the UN Mission services.
BSF has grown into an elite force of the country. The troop excelled with distinction in the 1971 war with Pakistan. Their enthusiasm is "Any task, anytime, anywhere" with their motto being "Duty unto Death".
During the Kargil War in the months of May-July 1999, the BSF helped the Army to defend the Kargil hills and thereby winning the war.
For the last two years, the BSF has taken good care of the internal security in Manipur and they are quite successful in fighting the insurgency.
During the earthquake of 2001, hitting Gujarat, the BSF personnel were the first ones to reach and help the distressed people and thereby saving their lives.
The BSF personnel also restored the peace and cultivated brotherhood among the people, while there was an outgoing communal disturbance in Gujarat.

1.What is the Full Form of STC in BSF?
Ans. The full form of STC in BSF is Subsidiary Training Centre, Border Security Force (STC BSF Full-form). This is a subsidiary training centre located in Churachandpur. This came into existence on 15th March 1968 at Shillong, Meghalaya.
These STCs are built for organizing and carrying out the Basic Fundamental training and In-Service Professional Training of the Border Security Force. They have three Main training Institutions, five Special Training Schools and other eleven Subsidiary Training Centres (STCs), while the Basic Training Centres (BTCs) are spread across India.
2.What Are Trans-Border Crimes?
Ans.
