DNB Medical Abbreviation

DNB medical stands for the Diplomate of the National Board. It is a postgraduate master's degree similar to an MD or MS degree awarded to a specialized Doctor in India after the completion of three years of tenancy. DNB courses are managed and degrees are awarded by the National Board of Examination (NBE), New Delhi to the candidates on the successful completion of their postgraduate tenancy. Candidates who have completed their MD/MS program in their respective subjects are also eligible to appear in the final DNB Certification exam along with the DNB trainees.

MBBS DNB Full Form and Eligibility Criteria

MBBS DNB full form, Diplomate of National Board, has the following eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates must have an MBBS Degree/ Professional Pass Certificate according to provisions of the Indian Council Medical Act, 1956 and retain a permanent/professional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the Medical Council of India/ State Medical Council.

  • Candidates must have completed one year of membership on or before March 31 of the current academic year.

  • Must have qualified NEET PG Entrance examination.

Also, the ministry of family and health welfare has issued a notification mentioning that a DNB degree should always be considered equivalent to MD/MS degree.

The candidate has to attempt a final examination in a different institution located in a different state, facing an undesignated examiner hailing from different parts of India.
