Term I- Reproduction

  1. Reproduction of Organisms: Reproduction is a habitual feature in all organisms for the continuance of species; Different ways of reproduction– Asexual and sexual; Asexual reproduction includes- binary fission, budding, vegetative propagation, spore formation (sporogenesis), fragmentation, parthenogenesis, and apomixis. Sexual reproduction includes syngamy and conjugation.


  1. Sexual Reproduction in a Plant (Flowering): Structure of Flower; male and female gametophytes developments; types of pollination, agencies and examples; Outbreeding devices in plants; interaction of pollen-Pistil; double fertilization; post-fertilization events, endosperm and embryo development, seed development and formation of fruit; Special modes-apomixis (diplospory, apospory embryony, parthenocarpy, polyembryony; Importance of seed and fruit formation).


  1. Reproduction in Humans: Male-female reproductive systems; testis and ovary (microscopic anatomy); Gametogenesis spermatogenesis and oogenesis; Menstruation and its cycle; Fertilisation, embryo maturation up to blastocyst stage, implantation; Pregnancy and formation of the placenta; Parturition; Lactation.


  1. Reproductive Health: Importance of reproductive health and precaution against STD (sexually transmitted disease); need or methods birth control, Contraception and MTP (Medical Termination of Pregnancy); Amniocentesis; Infertility and reproduction assisting technologies – IV and ZIFT, etc.


Term II- Genetics and Evolution

  1. Heredity and Variation: Mendelian Inheritance; Mendelism-Incomplete dominance deviations, Co-dominance, Multiple alleles and blood groups inheritance, pleiotropy; polygenic inheritance (elementary idea only); Chromosome theory of inheritance; Chromosomes and genes; Sex determination-In humans, birds and honey bee; Linkage and crossing over; Sex-linked inheritance-Haemophilia, Mendelian disorders in humans-Thalassemia; Chromosomal disorders; Down’s syndrome, Turner’s and Klinefelter’s syndromes, Colour blindness.


  1. Molecular Basis of Inheritance: explore genetic material and DNA as genetic material; Structure of DNA and RNA; DNA packaging; DNA replication; Central dogma; Transcription, genetic code, translation; Gene expression and regulation-Lac Operon; Genome; DNA finger-printing.


  1. Evolution: Life (Origin): Biological evolution and pieces of evidence for biological evolution from Paleontology, comparative anatomy, embryology and molecular evidence); contribution of Darwin, Modern Synthetic Theory of Evolution; Process of evolution-Variation (Mutation and Recombination) and Natural Selection, types of natural selection; Gene flow and genetic drift; Hardy-Weinberg’s principle; Adaptive Radiation; Human evolution.


Term III- Biology and Human Welfare

  1. Health and Disease: Pathogens; parasites that cause human diseases such as (Malaria, Filariasis, Ascariasis Typhoid, Pneumonia, common cold, amoebiasis and ringworm); the Basic idea of immunology-vaccines; Cancer, HIV and AIDS; Adolescence, drug and alcohol abuse.

  2. Development in Food Production: Plant breeding, tissue culture, single-cell protein, Biofortification; Apiculture and Animal husbandry.

  3. Microbes Concerning Human Welfare: household food processing, industrial production, sewage treatment, energy generation.


Term IV- Biotechnology and Its Application

  1. Concept of Biotechnology and Its Process: Genetic engineering (Recombinant DNA technology).

  2. Implementation of Biotechnology in Healthcare and Agriculture Development: Human insulin and vaccine production, gene therapy and genetically modified organisms like Bt crops; Transgenic Animals; Biosafety issues such as Biopiracy and patents.


Term V- Ecology and Environment

  1. Organisms and environment: Organisms and Populations(Habitat and Niche) Pollution; Abiotic Factors (erythema, stenothermal, euryhaline, stenohaline, photoperiodism); Global  Warming and its effects; Deforestation. Pollutions (Attributes and density); Pollution growth, Growth models (exponential growth and Logistic Growth; Population Interaction.

  1. The paper was taken on an online computer-based setting. 


  1. The total time allotted for the paper was 3 hours and 30 minutes.


  1. The exam was taken in two shifts: 

    1. Shift 1 (9:00 AM to 12:30 PM)

    2. Shift 2 (3:00 PM to 6:30 PM)


  1. The languages in which the paper was taken were English and Hindi. 


  1. The examination was an objective type examination. 


  1. The examination contained the questions in the form of MCQs.


  1. There were 200 MCQs in total. 


  1. The marking scheme was as follows: 

    1. 1 mark for every right question 

    2. And one-third Mark deducted for every wrong one.

1. What are the overall subjects in AIIMS Medical Exam 2025?

AIIMS Syllabus covers questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and also General Knowledge. Once a candidate gets their admit card, they can start preparing as per their syllabus. The AIIMS medical entrance exam would be conducted in 3.5 hours. Physics and Chemistry are acknowledged to be the toughest among various sections, while Biology and General Knowledge are considered to be easier sections than the latter from the point of view of scoring.

2. What is the eligibility criteria for the AIIMS Medical Entrance Examination 2025?

The eligibility criteria are:

  • The Candidate should have completed 17 years as of 31st December of the year of admission.

  • The Candidates who are born on or after 2nd January 2002 are not eligible to apply for this examination.

  • Students should have passed 10+2 CBSE/Intermediate of an Indian State with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as a subject

  • The minimum marks obtained in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the exam are to be: General/OBC 60% and SC/ST/OPH 50%.

3. What is the application procedure for AIIMS Medical Entrance Exam 2025?

  • A candidate looking for admission to the entrance examination is required to fill up the online application.

  • You can pay the AIIMS Application fee online by Credit/Debit card or through Net Banking.

  • Any discrepancy in any detail mentioned in the student Admit Card should be brought to the immediate notice of the exam convening authority.

  • You’re required to send the AIIMS Application Form online and not offline to the Commissioner's office.
