1. How important is NEET for medical students?
The AIIMS Entrance Exam and JIPMER have been replaced by NEET as the only valid medical exam for all medical aspirants seeking admission for MBBS and BDS courses into prestigious medical colleges in India. Every year lakhs of students appear for the NEET exam to pursue a career in medical science. Without NEET, students cannot apply for their targeted seats in the colleges of their desire. Plus, students have to score a good overall percentile to secure a seat in the best medical colleges including AIIMS.
2. What are the subjects that students need to study to clear NEET for AIIMS?
One of the most important eligibility criteria for an aspiring medical student is to get a good percentile in each of the four subjects in the qualifying exam, i.e., Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Biology is the most important subject of the paper since out of the 180 questions given in the paper, 90 questions are from Biology which accounts for 50% of the paper. Maths is not a requirement here since the numerical in Physics are more than enough.
3. What is the syllabus of the NEET Exam 2025 for AIIMS?
Since the AIIMS Medical exam has been replaced by NEET, students preparing for MBBS now have to appear for NEET to get admission in AIIMS. The NEET paper is divided into three subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology and students have to score a very good percentile which is the basis of securing a seat in the top medical Government or Private Colleges. 4. What is the marking scheme of the NEET exam 2025 paper?
The NEET exam paper, for AIIMS MBBS, consists of 200 questions out of which students have to attempt 180 questions. The total mark is 720. Four marks are awarded for every correct answer and one mark is deducted for every incorrect answer. No marks are given for questions left unanswered. The duration of the paper is 3 hours and is based on Multiple Type Questions (MCQs). The medium of answering the questions are English, Hindi, Bengali, Assamese, Urdu, Marathi and South Indian languages like Tamil and Telugu.
5. How should students prepare for NEET 2025?
Initially, when the AIIMS MBBS medical exam was conducted till 2019, the paper was said to be difficult yet easier than NEET. But now, with NEET becoming the only medical test for students to secure seats in the best government or private medical colleges including AIIMS, the competition has become more fierce.
