FAQs on AIIMS 2017 Question Paper with Solutions
1. What are the cut off marks for qualifying for NEET?
The minimum cut off for qualifying NEET MBBS depends on the category of students:
General Category- 50 percentile (138 marks)
SC/ST/OBC- 40 percentile (122 marks)
PwD- 45 percentile (108 marks)
But these marks are different from the marks needed for admission to various Government and private colleges in India. This is where the NEET admission cutoff marks are useful. The minimum NEET cutoff for MBBS courses in different colleges for the unreserved/general is 520 to 610 marks which varies every year.
2. What are the benefits of qualifying NEET?
Before the NEET exam, every student had to prepare for many medical entrance exams like AIPMT (All India Pre-Medical Test) for particular states and reputed institutes which were very hectic, pressurising and confusing. With the introduction of NEET as the only valid entrance exam for all medical institutes like AIIMS, students can now focus on only one test. So now students have a clarity of enrolling in the best medical college by clearing the cutoff marks. Due to the transparency and fairness in NEET, deserving students get the chance to grab a seat in their desired medical colleges.
3. Is solving Previous Years’ Question papers of NEET enough?
During the preparation, students must be aware of the topics and chapters mentioned in the syllabus. Be it the NCERTs or any other recommended books by the experts, solving Previous Years’ Question Paper has huge weightage in the process of learning, reviewing and testing one’s level of knowledge. This not only helps in knowing the pattern and types of questions in every subject but also boosts confidence and reduces the stress before the exam. 4. What is the duration of the NEET exam?
Like the AIIMS MBBS 2017 paper, the NEET exam is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) and the time duration is 3 hours. Unlike AIIMS MBBS, students have to answer only 180 questions instead of 200 so students have ample time in hand to concentrate and get the correct answers. Every year, the number of students appearing for the test cross over 5 to 10 lakhs for every 75,000 seats in India. So this annual exam is divided into two shifts- Morning and Evening for easy accommodation of students.
5. For how long are the NEET MBBS scores valid?
In India, the validity of the exam score usually lasts for only a year, ie., during the year of the attempt of the exam. Similarly, after receiving the results, aspiring medical students, who have qualified NEET with the minimum cut off, must enrol within the year of attempt for securing a seat in the prestigious medical colleges. However, if a student wishes to enrol for an MBBS course in a medical school abroad, the validity of their NEET score is 3 years.
