The International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO) is conducted by SOF (Science Olympiad Foundation) in the affiliated schools, which have more than ten student participants in the exam. The student must be studying in Classes 1-10 and should be in a school with a recognised Education Board (Like CBSE, ICSE or any other state board).
But a single candidate is not allowed to participate separately in the IGKO exam. The individual will only be registered if they apply via their schools.
3. Can a student participating in the IGKO exam be eligible to appear in other Olympiads like IMO?
The short answer is yes, and you can participate in multiple Olympiads together. Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) organises 6 olympiads together, namely NCO, NSO, IMO, IEO, ICO, ISSO & IGKO. The students can participate in all six exams together in a year, only if they meet the eligibility criteria if they intend to do so. All these exams are conducted once a year, on different dates, so students will face no difficulty in taking them altogether.

General Awareness (30 questions, 30 marks): it is the most scoring section, which entails general from your school curriculum
Current Affairs (10 questions, 10 marks): For this section, keep yourself updated on everything happening across the globe. One can use mediums like newspapers and current affairs magazines for this section.
Life Skills (5 questions, 5 marks): This section does seem tough, but it just comprises basic life skills, like communication.
Achievers Section (5 questions, 15 marks): This section consists of the syllabus of the above section but on a high difficulty level, so just prepare for the above sections thoroughly.
5. How does a student benefit by taking the IGKO exam or other Olympiads?
The students can immensely benefit by appearing in these Olympiads. These olympiads happen at an international level. SOF (the organising body of IGKO) provides a detailed report to each student, named Students Performance Report (SPR), to know their weak and strong points and performance comparison of students on different tiers. Hence, students get a chance to see their performance on many different levels, like in school, in the city, state, country, and at an international level.
