Syllabus of the Class 1 NCO Exam

Before you register your child for the Class 1 NCO exam, you must be well-acquainted with the syllabus of the paper. Students will have to answer 35 questions in one hour. The paper will be divided into 3 sections and we shall go through the syllabus for each section in detail.

1. How should a child prepare for the Class 1 NCO exam?

Ans: The Class 1 NCO exam is all about encouraging kids to have a fundamental understanding of the world of technology and computers. The aim should be to get students to develop an interest in the subject and form a strong base that will help them in higher classes. 2. What is the CPU?

Ans: According to the textbook of class 1, the CPU is the brain and storehouse of the computer. It stands for Central Processing Unit. A CPU receives instructions from both the software and hardware present on the device. It receives input and then produces an appropriate output. These sockets are usually located on the motherboard of the whole device setup.

More specifically, MS Paint is a free computer program made by Microsoft that allows you to create and edit picture files that can be later saved on your device. Microsoft Paint can also be used for quickly adding text to images and is available on all gadgets such as tablets, smartphones, and desktops. Students are nowadays taught how to use MS Paint from 1 itself. Basic knowledge of Paint is also required for the NCO exam.

4. How does one apply for the NCO exam?

Ans: Students interested in taking the NCO Class 1 exam can apply for the National Cyber Olympiad through their school. An application form will be provided to them which they will have to fill up and submit to the school head office. You will also have to pay the exam fees while submitting the application form. SOF’s website clearly states that no individual applications will be accepted and students can only apply through their respective schools. If any school has not yet registered themselves with the SOF, they can easily do so by writing an email to the Science Olympiad Foundation. 

5. When is the NCO exam held?

Ans: Most Olympiad exams are conducted in December and January. The National Cyber Olympiad exam is no exception. The exam will be held for classes 1 to 10. It will start from the middle of December and will continue up to the end of January. Within 8 weeks of the exam, the results will also be posted on SOF’s official website. Students can then check if they have cracked this prestigious examination and have made it to the list of top rankers.
