The top 1% of all the students who pass the exam will be eligible to compete in the Indian National Chemistry Olympiad (INCE), the second stage in the series. Then the theory paper is conducted in the last week of January. The top 30 students from all classes qualify for the Orientation-Cum-Selection-Camp (OCSC), Chemistry, the third stage in the exam series.

The National Standard Examination in Chemistry (NSEC) exam is given in the offline mode. For the convenience of the students, the exam is given in both English and Hindi (the option for both must be chosen at the time of enrollment). Due to the competitive nature of the exam, the questions are multiple-choice, and negative marking is used.

  • Scheme of the Marks – 3 marks are awarded for each question and in case of an incorrect attempt, one mark is deducted.

1. Elaborate about NSEC?

Ans: Students in higher secondary schools in India take the National Standard Examination in Chemical (NSEC), a chemistry test. Typically, the exam takes place in late November. The Indian Association of Chemistry Teachers is in charge of grading this exam. This exam is taken by more than 30,000 students, most of them are in Class 12.

  • The top 300 students in NSEC clear for the INOC that is the Indian National Olympiad in Chemistry or the second stage.

  • The top 1% of students in the country receive a special Merit Certificate and a novel for their performance.

  • The top 1% of students in each subject receive merit certificates.

5.  What is the application process for the NSEC?

Ans: An aspirant can apply offline for the exam from the nearest NSE centre. The centre where the candidate will submit the application form will also be considered a venue for the examination.

  • Step 1: The Students should first visit the NSEC centres. Students can also pick up their application forms at any of their local NSEC centres.

  • Step 2: After visiting the nearest NSEC centre, students should collect their NSEC 2024-25 registration form from the centre coordinator and then submit it after carefully filling out the necessary information.
