Hint: The 5R principle comes under waste management that helps to make our environment more breathable and eco-friendly. With its help we can reach a place where we avoid as much waste as we can and even come up with ideas to use waste in a creative way leading a better life.

Complete answer-
The 5R principle refers to the waste management process done through reduce, reuse, recycle, recover and residual management. Let us understand each of these processes to discover how useful they are and should we follow them or not.
Following are the 5R principle-
1. Reduce- this process refers to the condition when we use less in order to avoid waste or over usage. E.g.- repairing leaky taps so water doesn’t get wasted.
2. Reuse- in this process we try to use a product time and again for various purposes. E.g.- we can use the same polybag for shopping till it is good to use.
3. Recycle- this refers to the process of collecting things like plastic, paper, metal etc. and making new products from them instead of buying new one.
4. Recover- this refers to a process of converting a waste into a resource. E.g. thrown water bottles can be collected to make a boat out of it.
5. Refuse- this refers to the situation where we say no to a product that is harmful for our environment. E.g. using plastic bags.
As responsible and respected citizens of our country we should follow the 5R rule which helps in protecting our environment and working towards making it better for the future generation.

Note-
Among the 5R principles, each and every R is important as plastic has become so embedded in our daily life that we can’t imagine a day without it. So, the recovery process should be given equal importance as much as we give to recycling of plastic. As the outcome will be better if the plastic items contain renewable content.
