This resistance converts some amount of electric energy into heat energy. This is the heating effect of current. The materials which are good conductors of electric current will produce a very small amount of heating current. When the resistance to the current flow is higher, more heat is produced. In some electronic devices, the production of heat will decrease its efficiency. But there are some electronic devices like electric irons, electric water heaters etc. which make use of this heat effect.
A current flowing through a wire gives a magnetic nature to it. A solenoid in which the current is passed through it will have a magnetic field around it. Electromagnets are used for many applications in which the current is passed through a wounded wire around the body in which it behaves as a magnet while current is passed through the wire.
