Hint: CT and PT type of transformer used in AC power.CT and PT both are measuring devices used to measure currents and voltages. They are used where large quantities of currents and voltages are used. The role of CT and PT is to reduce high current and high voltage to a parameter. We can measure the current flowing at high volume and voltage with the help of this parameter.

Complete answer:
CT: Current Transformer:
It is a homogeneous current transformer that works to reduce the current flowing in the electrical system and it is used to measure the current when a large amount of current flows through any system.
How CT works:
The current transformer has a ratio that we call the CT ratio. It works to reduce the current, so to know how much current this CT will give us by reducing the current, a ratio is called CT ratio.
Example:
If you have ever measured a current using a clamp meter, the object on the top of the clamp meter is called a CT, or current transformer. This is very small and its working capacity is very low so it cannot be used in a big line.
PT: Potential Transformer:
PT’s full name is Potential Transformer and PT also works today but with Voltage.
How to work PT:
The PT gives us a low voltage in the output by lowering the high voltage and PT is used in large transmission lines. Because it has more voltages used in the high transmission line. With the help of any meter, we cannot measure the voltage of \[33kV\]or \[220kV\]. We use PT at that time and switch from high voltage to low voltage. And also we measure this output with the help of PT.

Note: CT is generally used to measure currents of high magnitude. CT is step down the current to be measured so that it can be measured with a normal range ammeter.
PT is step down the voltage of high magnitude to a lower voltage which can be measured with the standard measuring instrument. PT has a large number of primary turns and a smaller number of secondary turns.
