Hint: Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas. The pancreas are located behind the stomach. The pancreas secrete insulin which allows our body to create glucose.

Complete Answer:
The glucose produced by insulin is used as an energy source by our body. Glucose is a monosaccharide that is found in various carbohydrates. Monosaccharides being the most basic units are the building blocks for disaccharides and polysaccharides.Monosaccharides produce and store energy in the body. Glucose can be broken down to create energy which is harvested by organisms for sustenance. Long monosaccharides are used to form cellular structures.
Diabetes is a disease that occurs when the body does not create an appropriate amount of insulin. There are two main types of diabetes:
Type 1 Diabetes: It is an autoimmune disorder wherein the cells of the body attack themselves. This is caused by a lack of insulin by the body.
Type 2 Diabetes: It is a disorder caused when the body develops a resistance towards insulin. This disorder results in an overproduction of insulin to satisfy the body’s need for insulin.
An insulin injection helps maintain the level of insulin in a type 1 diabetes patient as their body cannot produce an adequate amount of insulin on their own.

Note:
Insulin maintains the balance of glucose in the bloodstream. In cases of excess production of glucose, insulin directs the liver to store glucose in it. The glucose stored in the liver is then secreted after the level of glucose drops in the bloodstream. This stored glucose is released during activities performed by our body.
